Abstract: Cities tend to be the main ones affected by the effects of climate change, making it necessary to adapt to the present and future climate. Brazil has established Law 14.904/24, with general guidelines for adaptation plans. Among the priority areas of this law is the right to the city, a notion still in dispute in the country. Given this context, this paper proposes to analyze the relationship between the concept of the right to the city in the law and the idea of just urban adaptation, which is present in recent literature in the area of climate adaptation. It is based on the assumption that a reading of the right to the city from the perspective of just urban adaptation could, in theory, lead to better adaptive results. To this end, a qualitative and exploratory study was carried out, using the deductive method based on a literature review. It was concluded that the two concepts are closely related, and a reading of the right to the city through the lens of just urban adaptation would corroborate the realization of this right, as well as good adaptive results, in theory
